Abstract

The study aimed to examine the impact of (IM) on (OS) among employees in (NGOs) and to measure the effects of self-promotion, ingratiation, intimidation, and supplication on organizational silence. The study adopted the descriptive approach and used a questionnaire as the main data collection tool from the study population. The sample consisted of (403) employees in the organizations under study. The study also employed statistical methods available in SPSS, including descriptive statistics, correlation coefficients, and regression analysis, in order to analyze the data and test the hypotheses.

The study results revealed a statistically significant moderate positive relationship between (IM) and (OS), with a correlation coefficient of (r = 0.42). (IM) explained approximately (18.1%) of the variance in (OS). The results of multiple regression analysis also indicated a significant relationship between the combined dimensions of (IM) and (OS), where (OS) was positively associated with (self-promotion and ingratiation) and negatively associated with (intimidation and supplication). Collectively, these dimensions explained about (39%) of the variance in (OS) according to the coefficience of determination (R² = 0.39). The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis demonstrated a significant effect of (IM) dimensions on administrative and organizational reasons, explaining (50.7%) of the variance. The findings also indicated that (intimidation and ingratiation) significantly affected isolation, explaining (29%) of its variance, while the explained variance for lack of experience was (9.9%).
